Monday, July 12th, 2010

Research In Motion (RIM) does not want to be defeated by Apple Inc. After their BlackBerry phones compete with the iPhone smart phone market share, now it is time to “fight” for the tablet PC market.

Despite losing the start, the BlackBerry will catch up with Apple iPad in making a tablet that has a greater capacity and complete facilities.

According to an analyst and managing director at Rodman; Renshaw, Ashok Kumar, RIM is targeting the end of this year to release a tablet that uses BlackBerry 1GHz processor capacity. Tablets of 7-inch touch screen will be supported by the processor from Marvell.

Marvell, which supplies the main processor for the BlackBerry Bold 9700, will also supply the silicon on the tablet, which will be used for 3G connectivity. According to Kumar, one of the chips that will be used by the BlackBerry is a tablet which has a capacity of 610 Marvell 1GHz.

This processor is intended for tablet devices, mobile Internet, and e-Reeder. Chip is also capable of displaying pictures in high definition (HD) 1080p, dual ability of 16 megapixel camera, and support for graphical three-dimensional (3D). As for RIM, they declined to comment on the analysis of Kumar.
